David W. Hitt, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away on August 18, 2026, in Vestal, NY, at the age of 46. Born on September 4, 1979, in Warrenton, VA, David faced numerous medical challenges throughout his life, including Prader-Willi syndrome, learning disabilities, and hearing issues. However, these obstacles never defined him. Instead, David embraced life with an inspiring spirit, dedicating himself to helping others and spreading kindness wherever he went.

From a young age, David dreamed of being a firefighter. He proudly became involved with the Vestal and Endicott Fire Departments, contributing his time and energy to auxiliary work and community events. His heart was as big as his dreams, as he also supported local fire departments, Vestal EMS, the Special Olympics, Challenger Baseball, and the Red Cross. During times of crisis, such as local floods, David was a beacon of hope, tirelessly distributing supplies and lifting the spirits of his neighbors. His infectious smile and selfless nature made a lasting impact on all who knew him.

David is survived by his father, Phillip Hitt; mother, Cheryl Hitt; and brothers, Michael and Steven Hitt. He will be forever remembered for his unwavering dedication to service and his compassion for those around him.
