She is survived by her sister Wilma Riley and Donna Ablet; children Lauren Brault (Peter), Diane Tolentino, and Ken Armitage (Doreen); eight grandchildren; thirteen greatgrandchildren; and many friends and acquaintances. Carolyn worked for over 40 years in the administration department of the Vestal Central School System, beginning as the secretary for the principal of the High School in the early 1970s. She studied to become an EMT and was one of the founding members of the Vestal Volunteer Ambulance Squad. In this role she helped many members of the community by coming to their aid in times of crisis. Blessed with a love of learning, she attended many classes at Broome Tech (SUNY Broome) over the years. In her later years she enjoyed a full social life as part of a group called ‘Contemporary Singles’ where she acted as secretary for the group. She enjoyed many outings and trips with this group and often spoke of her experiences with them fondly. The family will hold a private celebration of her life. To remember her, donations can be made in her honor to any non-profit organization that supports social justice.
