Carol Josephine Carley passed away April 23, 2018 with her family by her side". Carol raised 5 BOYS, (each of whom said they were the greatest). Countless times that tally of those at the dinner table would rise to include almost the entire population of the town. If you left that house hungry that was your fault. She'd see them coming from miles away, the big pot that she made everything in was always on the stove. Every kid would ask what's for supper, her response would be "Whatever's in the pot", if you don't like that go to your friends house". Carol always worked hard; be it as a switchboard operator, dietary technician, and for many years in Kmart as the "layaway specialist". Whatever task was placed in front of her, she did happily. She was always able to help, (sharing one piece of candy to each customer), if there was a problem Carol would just say politely "I'll be right there." After she'd made a climb up the racks to locate a lost layaway, she'd shimmy down with a few boarderline cursewords and the layaway item. She found great joy just being around friends and family. Holidays, reunions, graduations (and there were a lot of those), an invite from her sister Joyce who'd say "Lets go to a yard sale" or a simple phone call to a sister struggling with her health. If she heard there's a baby on the way she would just bubble up with excitement. She was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Clara McNeill, siblings, Margaret, Beatrice, Joyce, Donald and Thomas, a daughter, Holly, and a grandson, Michael. Carol is survived by her sons, Eric Carley, Seagrove, NC, Scott and Linda Carley, High Point, NC, Troy Carley, Binghamton, William and Letty Carley, Murphy, TX and Glenn Carley, Vestal, treasured grandchildren; Richard, Holly, Elizabeth, Rebeccah, Nicholas, Derek, Taylor, Brooklyn and William IV and many great grandchildren. She leaves behind sister, Mary Greene, Binghamton, brothers, Mervyn and Sharrel McNeill, Little Meadows, P A and George McNeill, Binghamton and a large extended family and multitudes of friends.
