Becky Lou Peterson (Bonsell) left this world unexpectedly on September 12, 2026, after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and cherished memories. Born on July 13, 1954, in Binghamton, New York, Becky was a guiding light to all who knew her, sharing her infectious joy and love unreservedly with family and friends.

The beloved daughter of the late Walter Jr. and June Bonsell, Becky was predeceased by her devoted husband, Lars Sr. Peterson, with whom she celebrated over 50 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, music, and endless love. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Walter III and Wayne Bonsell.

Becky is survived by her cherished children: Lisa (Carl) Peterson Lucas, Laura Peterson, Laressa Peterson, Lars (Nancy) Peterson, and Lindsey (James) Burgos. Her legacy also continues through her brothers Allen (Louann) Davidson and William Bonsell, sisters Holley (Lenny) Bonsell Peterson, Debbie (Thomas) Bonsell Paradis, and Daisy (Thomas) Cady. Becky was the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren: Shalyse, Shareka, Luke, Darius and Jairus Lucas. Anthony and Nathan Storti. Destiny, Nicholas and Christian Albrechta. Wesley Peterson. Dominic and Ruby Burgos, and 12 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

After graduating from Binghamton Central High School, Becky embarked on a career marked by dedication and hard work, contributing to companies such as Stow Manufacturing, Landers, Flextronics, and Felchars. Yet, it was her personal life where her influence was most deeply felt. Becky had a unique gift for making people feel welcome, her warm smile and caring nature lighting up every room she entered. An engaging conversationalist, she could connect with anyone and brought joy to all who knew her.

Becky’s love for the outdoors was well-known. She found joy in fishing for bass at Cazenovia Lake, bowling, and playing games, but perhaps her greatest passion was cooking for her family. Her "Becky fried chicken" was a legendary staple at family gatherings and late-night after parties. Becky loved spending time with her grandchildren, throwing parties, and singing around a bonfire, accompanied by her husband’s guitar.

Visiting will be held Friday September 18, 2026 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at at DeMunn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 36 Conklin Ave, Binghamton, NY 13903. Funeral service to honor Becky’s remarkable life will be held on September 18, 2023, at 12:00 pm at DeMunn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 36 Conklin Ave, Binghamton, NY 13903 with burial to follow at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. There will be a gathering for friends and family after the funeral from 3:00 pm-7:00 pm at the Tabernacle United Methodist Church located at 83 Main Street, Binghamton, NY 13905. Her family shares the special message, "Her love was the anchor of our family, and her guiding light will live in our hearts forever."

Becky Lou Peterson will be forever remembered for her beautiful spirit, her love for life, and the indelible mark she left on those fortunate enough to have known her.
