Areva Marie Hassan

Areva Marie Hassan, 78, of Binghamton, New York passed away peacefully at Mercy House of the Southern Tier on March 5, 2021. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Jovanha Dellacorino. She is survived by her ex-husband and father of their daughters, Robert Szymanski; her two daughters: Leah & Joseph Husnay of Virginia and Denise Yost of Oneida; her grandchildren: Joe and Lena Husnay of Virginia; Jessica & Eric Friedah of Johnson City; Robert Yost of Oneida; Benjamin & Brittany Yost of North Carolina; and four great grandchildren: Starla, Jovanha, Barrett, and Jaxton. She also leaves behind a brother and sister: Richard Hassan and Lucille Herrin; along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, and good friends. Areva was an adventurer and enjoyed new experiences. She was always eager to take a trip, whether it be visiting family or friends, a cruise to a scenic destination, or a spur of the moment adventure with no destination in mind. Areva loved visiting the beach and getting out in the waves or on the boat. Areva also enjoyed dancing, window shopping, browsing QVC and HSN, trying new restaurants, and cooking large meals for others using timeless family recipes. Areva will also be remembered for making others laugh with her witty sense of humor. Memorial services will be private. In lieu of flowers or cards, donations can be made in her name to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
