Reverend Anthony Ciancio

Reverend Anthony J. Ciancio, 90, passed away peacefully to his heavenly home, September 2, 2025, while a resident of Willow Point Nursing Home. His lifelong journey began in the 7th Ward of Binghamton on October 17, 1934. He was born to Guiseppe and Anna DeLuca Ciancio. He grew up with one brother, Guy, and six sisters, Rosie, Angelina, Connie, Josephine, Mary, and Anna. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Connie; 4 daughters, a son; 1 1 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Anna Rusnak, several nieces and nephews, 4 sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.

Prior to serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, he enjoyed boxing in his youth and later became a dance instructor at Arthur Murray Studios. He moved to Southern California, where he hosted a polka show on radio and several years later accepted Jesus as his Lord and became an ordained minister. He ministered in jails, including in Tijuana, Mx., and pastored a church in Anaheim, before returning to Binghamton. Tony was a Giants football fan and volunteered on-the-field at BHS games. He served as a director with the BC Jets in 1999. He hosted the Italian music show on WNBF several years ago and was the proprietor of Y-NOT Swap Shop. He was talented in masonry, carpentry, drawing especially caricatures; gifted with a singing voice, and enjoyed playing accordion, harmonica, and keyboard, as well as cooking (he made the best meatballs!) and had a quick sense of humor.

Tony's family extends special thanks to the staff at Willow Point where he was cared for with loving kindness, and compassion, especially in the end stage of his life. Also, thank you for the "comfort care" extended to his family.

According to Tony's wishes, there will be no funeral services. Tony donated his body to Upstate Medical University to further medical advancement and education.
