Loia Juanita Harder

August 22, 1927 — September 24, 2010

Juanita” Harder of Binghamton Loia “Juanita” Harder, 83, passed away Friday, September 24, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her parents, Roland and Theora Welliver. Juanita is survived by her sister, Marlyn Babcock, Afton; her former husband, Richard Harder, and their six children, Judy Santucci, Richard and Ann Harder, Jack and Lisa Harder, Paula and Ralph DeRigo, Terry and Madeline Harder, Mark and Michelle Harder all of Binghamton. Juanita was a dearly loved Nanny to her twenty grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Nicole Peet, Tania Barnes, Anthony Santucci, Leslie Dix, Richard Harder, Dan Slick, Kolene Goldenberg, Kelly Engbith, Britney Lewis, Brad Bess, Justin, Aaron and Corey DeRigo, Josh Pouch, Ashley, Matt and Nate Harder and Chris, Todd and Colin Harder. She leaves behind 20 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her loyal dog, Bella. Juanita loved to cook and crochet and took great pleasure in lovingly crocheting hats, scarves, mittens, afghans, dolies, ornaments and baby blankets for all of her loved ones. We will treasure her “works of art” forever. She was fondly known as Ma or Nanny to her neighbors and her children’s friends. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Juanita was a longtime member of High Street United Methodist Church. Juanita’s family would like to thank her caregivers, Darlene Darling and Sarah Nabinger. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton with the Reverend Anne Blair officiating. Entombment will follow services in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 until 7:00 pm, Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Those wishing may make memorial contributions in Juanita’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 401 Hayes Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
