Shirley A. Demoski
of Binghamton
Shirley A. Demoski, 76, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 at her home surrounded by her devoted family. She was born in Earlville, NY on August 24, 1934 to Alfred and Nellie Wood who predeceased her as did her brothers and sisters; Richard Wood, Edward Wood, Ellen Stockholm, Mary Ranucci and Harriet Canales. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Paul and their children; Paula and Lance Holbrook of Apopka, Fla., Ken and Judy Demoski of Leander, Tex., Joanne and Ed Rattigan, Kathy and Mark Swearengin and Denise Travis all of Binghamton, Lori and John Benson of Windsor and Scott and Birdie Demoski of Baldwinsville, NY. She leaves behind grandchildren; Ryan and Shealyn Holbrook, Adam and Andrea Holbrook, Shaun and Jenn Rattigan, Kyle and Danielle Rattigan, Kelly Rattigan, Matt Swearengin, Tim Swearengin, Andy Travis, Kristen Travis, Tyler Benson, Nic Benson, Emma Benson, Josh Demoski and Isaiah Demoski, great-grandchildren; Connor and Jameson Rattigan, Sara and Laura McCarley, siblings; David and Virginia Wood, William and Cally Wood, Paul Ranucci, Earl Stockholm, Linda and Bob Keller, Margaret Palmer, Catherine Holden, Jim and Olga Demoski and a large extended family.
Shirley retired from the Binghamton Psychiatric Center after twenty five years of service. She was an avid sports fan and attended as many of her grandchildren’s games as possible. Her favorite team was the New York Mets. She bowled weekly until the age of 74 and was a great softball player in her younger years. Grandma enjoyed baking cookies, pies and kolachkies with all her grandchildren. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Bellina, Dr. Yalamanchili and all the staff at Broome Oncology for their care and services over the last two years. Also, thanks to Lourdes Hospice; especially Linda Malchak for her support.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Grace Baptist Church, 33 Howard Ave, Binghamton with Pastor Scott Roloson officiating. Interment will follow services in Riverside Rural Cemetery, Kirkwood. The family will receive friends 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton.
