Danella “Dani” Opela
Of Binghamton
Blessed are all of us who were touched by her loving ways and beautiful gardening skills. Danella “Dani” Opela, 67, unexpectedly went home to her heavenly father, Saturday, August 21, 2010. She was born in Portage, Minnesota to Frank and Martha, who predeceased her, as did her brother, Francis and sister, Florence. Dani is survived by brother, Julian and sisters, Ramona, Caroline and Patricia and numerous nieces and nephews. Dani was a wonderful mother to Andre and Julie Opela, Binghamton. She took Andre under her wing as her son under very unfortunate circumstances. Dani was a beloved grandmother to Alicia, Jamie and Jason Opela, along with Stephanie, Carrie and Kirk Baumes.
Dani’s family would like to give special thanks to George, Margie and Judy Stanko, Ron and Laura Emerick and family and Kim VanHart as well as many lifelong friends and neighbors who meant the world to her.
A celebration of Dani’s life will be held 10:00 am, Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Hawleyton United Methodist Church, 901 Hawleyton Road, Binghamton with Pastor Roger Frederick officiating. Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 pm, Thursday, August 26th at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton. Memorial contributions in Dani’s name may be made to World Wildlife Fund, 1250 Twenty-Fourth Street, N.W, P.O. Box 97180, Washington, DC 20090-7180 .
