Beverly Terboss Friend

Beverly Terboss Friend of Kirkwood   After a hard fought battle with cancer, Beverly Terboss Friend, 81, died Friday, August 13, 2010 at home with her loving husband of 61 years at her side.  Bev as she was call by everyone was loved by many and will be greatly missed. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Helen Terboss, brothers; Francis and Robert Terboss and sister, Dorothy Terboss. Beverly is survived by her husband, Jack, sons and daughter-in-law, Jack Friend, Jr., Eldorado Hills, Ca. and James and Zhongying Friend, Monrovia, Ind. She leave behind,  brother, Ernest Terboss, Jr., Owego, sister, Margaret Newberry, Binghamton, sister-in-law, Susan Terboss, Susquehanna, Pa., brother-in-law, Louis and Frances Friend, Cobbleskill and many nieces and nephews whose company she loved and enjoyed. Beverly was always active and loved playing golf. She enjoyed travel and made 18 cross country trips with Jack including one trip to Alaska, three ocean cruises with her very close friends. Beverly was the first rural carrier to be appointed to the Kirkwood Post Office. She was the county president of the Rural Letter Carriers Association and hosted a NYS convention at the Holiday Inn in Binghamton. Beverly always enjoyed her job and the people she served.  She also served as Vice President of the Kirkwood Senior Citizen Club, belonged to the Kirkwood Historical Society and was a member of the Kirkwood United Methodist Church since childhood. She married Jack in that church in 1948.   Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton with the Reverend Diane Prentice officiating. Interment will follow services in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Family will receive friends Monday, August 16, 2010 from 2:00 until 4:00 pm and again from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Bev’s name may be made to the Kirkwood Historical Society, 303 Main Street, Kirkwood, NY 13795.
