John P. Carvelas, 78, passed away Friday, March 12, 2010. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Maria Carvelas; and brother, Nicholas. John is survived by his brother, Demetrios Carvelas, Binghamton; sister, Pitsa Pappas, Greece; sisters-in-law, Pat and Stacey Carevelas and several nieces and nephews. John was a veteran of the United States Army serving his country during the Korean War. He was a graduate of New York University. One of his favorite pastimes was feeding the birds in the parks of New York. Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 214 Court Street, Binghamton with the Very Reverend Protopresbyter James S. Dutko officiating. Interment will follow services in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. Family will receive friends Tuesday, March 16, 2010, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton.
