Betty J. Heil

Betty J. Heil, 83, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009 after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her parents Elbert and Ethel Smith. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Edward, children; Wayne and Jayne Heil, Santa Ynez, Ca., Stephen and Andrea Heil, Lakeridge, Va., Joseph and Charlotte Heil, Binghamton and Susan Carroll, Binghamton, treasured grandchildren; David Heil, Palmdale, Ca., Nicki Cabanting, Santa Maria, Ca., Jason Heil, Manassas, Va., Erica Hanley, Charlotte, N.C., Miranda DeLisa, Johnson City and Jesse Heil, Binghamton and two great grandchildren; Kailani Cabanting and Dylan Heil. She leaves behind special friend, Jamie Haughton, Binghamton. Many people will remember Betty as the owner of Smith's Food Shop on Binghamton's West Side. After she retired from the store she also worked for 10 years at Binghamton University. Betty and Edward enjoyed many activities of the BPOE Elks #70, Kirkwood. Funeral services will be held 6:00 pm, Monday, January 4, 2010 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton. Interment will be Tuesday, January 5, 2010 in South Gibson Cemetery, Gibson, PA. Family will receive friends at the funeral home, Monday from 4:00 until 6:00 pm. Memorial contributions in Betty's name may be made to the Broome County Humane Society, 2 Jackson Street, Binghamton , NY 13903.
