Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Cullen, 89, passed away quietly on the early morning of January 27, 2017. She was born on November 20, 1927 in Carbondale, PA, to John and Mary Millon, and is now reunited with her late husband Francis Michael Cullen. Betty dedicated her life to nourishing those around her with love and faith. A devoted mother of four sons, graduate of Marywood College, and a former nurse at Lourdes Hospital, she affectionately cherished her family and community, and had a true passion for caring for those in need. Betty’s contagious smile, constant nurturing, and signature sense of humor, extended to all of those around her. She was easily befriended by many of the lives she touched. She loved to read poetry, had a beautiful imagination, and an exceptional enthusiasm for sharing stories. She loved to impart favorite poetic verse, childhood memories, recipes, and family traditions to her children and grandchildren. A servant of the Catholic faith, Betty loved to pray, and celebrated God’s Grace at St. John the Evangelist Church. By far, her favorite times were those spent on Laurel Lake with her husband and family, enjoying the beauties of nature surrounded by those she loved most. She was adored and loved by all who met her, for her witty and amiable outlook, and she will be greatly missed. Betty’s legacy lives on in her four sons, Mark (Suzanne), David (Naldo), Thomas (Stacey), Francis (Lori); seven grandchildren, Colleen (Alex), Tracey (Michael), Melanie (Matthew), Lucas, Ceara, Alexander, and Matthew, and three great-grandchildren William Alexander (Colleen), Jack Francis (Colleen), and Elizabeth Mary (Tracey), and all extended family and friends who loved her dearly. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton. Interment will follow services in Calvary Cemetery.
