Gail Janet Weinberg

Gail Janet Weinberg, 69, passed away peacefully January 21, 2017. Gail was an independent woman, who was never shy about sharing her opinions. Late in life, she was more involved in her Jewish religion and became a Bat Mitzvah as an adult. She cherished family and friends above all, and participating in holiday celebrations and family events was very special to Gail.She was born February 19, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois, to the late, Lester and Harriet Weinberg. She moved to Wilmette, IL and graduated from New Trier High School. She received her B.S. in Mathematics from Northern Illinois University and relocated to Binghamton, where she worked for IBM until retirement. She later worked for Temple Concord in Binghamton. Gail is survived by her brother, Leo Weinberg and wife Donna of Sugar Land, TX, niece Lindsey Tishgart (David) of Austin, TX, nephew Brad Weinberg (Jill) of Los Angeles, CA, and nephews Zach and Jake Tishgart and Ethan Weinberg, and niece Julia Weinberg, as well as her life-long friend (sister of the heart) Cherie Kreuger. She leaves behind special friends, Dennis and Sandy Foreman, Jerry and Susan Rosenstein and Judy Osburn. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon, Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Temple Israel, 4737 Deerfield Place, Vestal with Rabbi Rachel Esserman officiating Family will receive friends at Temple Israel from 11:00 am, until the time of services. . Interment will follow services in Temple Israel Cemetery, Conklin Road, Conklin. Shiva will be observed from 7:00 until 9:00 pm, with mignon service at 7:30 pm, Tuesday, January 24th, at the home of Dennis and Sandy Foreman. The family kindly refuses flowers. Memorial contributions in Gail's name may be made to the charity of your choice .
