Harold O'Hearn

Harold J. O’Hearn, 92, died on Wednesday, April 13th, 2016. We will miss his Irish wit, warm gentle spirit, and kindness toward all who knew and loved him. Harry was born in Scranton, PA, graduated from Minooka High School, and served in the United States Army. After a lengthy career at Ansco Corp. (GAF), he retired briefly before returning to the workforce at Binghamton Savings Bank to begin a new career as a courier. In his second retirement, he enjoyed traveling with family, creating watercolor paintings, following his sports teams (the Boston Red Sox and the Syracuse Orange) and meeting his coffee buddies for Saturday breakfasts. He also enjoyed keeping current with the latest electronic technology. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Ellen Clark Ahearn, two brothers and two sisters. Harry is survived by his wife Ellen, his children: Timothy (Claudia), Watkins Glen; Sean (Lisa), Evergreen, CO; Brian (Teresa), Pelham, NH; Michael (Jacquelyn), Binghamton, NY; Megan (Kelli), Binghamton, NY; as well as his 12 beloved grandchildren and his devoted caregiver, Eleanor. At Harry’s request his body was donated to Upstate Medical Center. A memorial service will be held 5:00 pm, Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton. Family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Humane Society, Animal Care Council, or Project Paw in Harry’s memory. “Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
