Obituary of Barbara LarsonBarbara Jewell Story Larson, 91, of Binghamton, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2015. Born in 1923 to Eleanor and William Story, she grew up in Providence, Rhode Island, and Meredith, New Hampshire. After graduation from Laconia Business College, she moved to Boston, where she met and married Ernest “Ted Larson. They later moved to Binghamton,where they raised their three children. Barbara was a lifelong volunteer in many organizations, but especially with the UCC First Congregational Church of Binghamton, where she and Ted were active and devoted members. She served as UCC New York State President of the Women’s Fellowship, and as Vice-Moderator of the State Conference of UCC.Following retirement, Barbara and Ted moved to Harwich, MA on Cape Cod, where they joined the First Congregational Church of Harwich, and she served as Church Moderator and President of the Women’s Fellowship. She was also active in the Hyannis Hospital Auxiliary and the Harwich Garden Club. In recent years, Barbara returned to Binghamton to live closer to family. She is predeceased by her cherished husband, Ted and daughter, Janet. She will be lovingly remembered, and very missed, by her son, Peter and daughter-in-law, Deborah Larson of Binghamton, her daughter, Karen and son- in-law, John Glickman of Sonoma, CA, granddaughters Katherine and Theresa Larson, grandsons Adam Glickman and his wife, Lauren Schlesinger, Joel Glickman and his wife, Jennifer LoRusso, and great- granddaughters, Thea and Stella Glickman. A memorial service will be held 4:00pm, Saturday, April 18, 2015.at the First Congregational Church of Binghamton, 30 Main Street, Binghamton. Arrangements for the family are directed by the DeMunn Funeral Home.
