Obituary of Robert Smales Robert W. Smales, 87, died peacefully at home Saturday, July 25, 2015 after a long battle with cancer which he fought with courage and grace. Rob was proud to have served his country in the Korean War. He was a member of the Hawleyton United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his sisters; Janice Reynolds, Marcia Eldred and Caroline Orton. Rob is survived by his wife, Karen, children; Mary and Glenn Gilda, Binghamton, Rachel and Howie Matza, Suffern, NY and Joel and Athena Smales, Kirkwood; seven grandchildren and a large extended family. Rob’s family wishes to thank Dr. Andras Szabo, Dr. David Steinmetz and Lourdes Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Rob. And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.
