Obituary of Robert Isaacson Dr. Robert Lee Isaacson, 86, of Binghamton, NY, passed away on August 10, 2015. Bob was born on September 26, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan. As the only child of Emil Alfred Isaacson and Edna Evelyn Johnson Isaacson, he attended the University of Michigan, where he ultimately earned a doctor of philosophy degree in psychology. While studying, Bob also served in the Navy ROTC and saw combat as Disbursing Officer on the U.S.S. Missouri during the Korean War (1950-51). Bob then served as a faculty member at the University of Michigan (1956-1967) and the University of Florida (1968-1977), before joining Binghamton University’s Psychology Department as a Distinguished Professor in 1978. During his career, Bob specialized in neurobiology, and was noted for his extensive work on the function of the brain’s limbic system. Bob served as President of the International Behavioral Neuroscience Society. Bob is survived by his wife, Ann Braden, his children Gunnar (Denyse), Lars (Tove), Ingrid and Chris (Chip) Rossi, his step-children Richard (Amy) Braden, Milly (John) Haynes and grandchildren Connor, Alex, Caitlin, Pascal, Makayla, Cameron and Braden. He is also survived by his first wife, Susan Doherty. A memorial in his honor will be planned in the future.
