Obituary of Arthur GordonBeloved husband, father and grandfather, Arthur B. Gordon, 87, passed away at his home surrounded by his family, Saturday, November 14, 2015. Art was the glue which holds families together. He devoted his life to his family and helping others throughout the community. He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Lynn Gloria, his parents, Jessie D. and Mason J. Gordon, brothers, Paul H. and Carleton A. Gordon. Art is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 63 years, Gloria Borne Gordon, Endwell; sons, Steven A. Gordon, Oklahoma City, Ok. and Robert M. and Betty Gordon, Endwell, who along with their daughter, Elizabeth were Art’s devoted caregivers and made it possible for Art to remain at home as were his wishes, He leaves behind treasured grandchildren; Frank, Jonathan, Elizabeth (Michael), Pamela and Steven, eleven great-grandchildren which include Kaelyn, the sunshine of his life and his little buddy, Colin and a great great-grandson, brothers-in law and sister-in-law, Robert and Kate Borne, Bue Ridge Summit, Pa. and Joseph Chergosky, Castle Creek and several nieces and nephews one of which is his special niece, Gail Gordon. Art graduated from Binghamton Central High School in 1946 and joined the US Army. He was stationed in Japan as part of the Army of Occupation with the 24th Infantry Division, 19th Regiment. Art spent 35 years in various area and positions in the retail grocery business and then 15 years in the wholesale florist supply business. He was involved in his earlier years, both as a Scout and then as a Leader. A former member of Binghamton Lodge #177 of the Free and Accepted Masons, he was very active for nearly 50 years in the High Street United Methodist Church acting in various offices and capacities. He was involved for 19 years, volunteering at the United Methodist Homes for the Aging of the Wyoming Conference and serving for 3 years as President of its Board of Directors. Art’s family knew his word was final, so at his request there will be no formal services. “And that’s that.” Art’s family would like to thanks friends from High Street United Methodist Church for their prayers and concerns as well as the dedicated volunteers and staff of Lourdes Hospice.
