Thomas A. Barbour, 75, passed away at home on February 27th, 2015. Tom was born in Buchanan, MI, but was raised primarily in Indiana and attended Purdue University. He is survived by his wife Irene; his son, Dale (Donna); his daughter, Jennifer (Greg); his five grandchildren, David, Sierra, Christopher, Joshua, Alexander and one great grandson, Cooper. Tom is also survived by his three brothers; Jerry (Marcia), Dick (Mary Anne), Bobby (Debbie); three brothers-in-law; George (Mary), David (Teena), and Brian. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews both here and abroad. Tom served proudly in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Proteus (AS19) primarily in the Holy Loch, Scotland where he met and married his wife. After being discharged from the Navy, he then became a long term employee of Singer-Link. He was extremely active in many Masonic organizations and enjoyed the brotherhood of his many friends. He also enjoyed reading, cooking, music, woodworking, golf and fishing with his best friend Paul Dofton. Tom was a past President of the Vestal School Board and also served on the BOCES School Board. As per Tom’s wishes, his body was donated to medical science. A Masonic memorial service will be held at a later date. Tom will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him. The family wishes to thank the Vestal Police Department and the Vestal Emergency Squad for their kindness and consideration.
