James R. Chvatal

James R. Chvatal, 69, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014 after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Anne Chvatal. Jim is survived by his sister, Joan Chvatal, Binghamton and his close friend, Steve Rogoff, Vestal. He leaves behind sister, Jane McCann, nephew: Jason Stephens, several cousins and childhood friend, Jim Clifford. Jim served many years as organist and choir director at Saints John and Andrew RC Church and was an accomplished professional. People who knew Jim knew he loved to play the pipe organ and how truly talented Jim was at his profession. He loved to walk and explore; and was frequently seen doing just that in local parks and cemeteries. Old cars were a passion, especially the Studebaker. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Reverend Monsignor Michael T. Meagher at 11:00 am, Monday, September 8, 2014 at Saints John and Andrew RC Church, 1263 Vestal Avenue, Binghamton. Interment will follow services in Chenango Valley Cemetery, Hillcrest, New York. Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 pm, Sunday, September 7, 2014 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton.
