Beverly A. Husband, LPN, went to dance with Elvis after a full life of 76 years, July 6, 2014. Bev was a caring devoted mother who raised her six children with her sense of values and was never afraid to share with you her opinion. She loved to travel, especially to the beach and spent much of her time writing short stories and poems, shopping and working on all types of crafts.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Lena Shierly, grandson, Ethan Lake, brothers; Karl and Anthony Shierly and dear friend Dorleen Heath. Bev is survived by her children, Roxanne (Jim) Lake, Norwich, Linda (George) Zervos, Zephyrhills, Fla., Alan Husband, Cornelius, N.C., Mark Husband, Binghamton, Karen (Tim) McIntee, Johnson City and Matthew (Andrea) Husband, Vestal. She leaves behind sixteen grandchildren; Jeremiah, Rachel and Matthew Lake, Spero (Audrey) Zervos, Elisabeth, Zachary, Daniel, Katherine, Alexandra and Jessica Husband, Kristina (Kyle) Auwarter, Kevin and Patrick McIntee,Jamie Husband, Geoffrey and Ashley Husband and five great-grandchildren, sisters; Rita (Dave) Kincer and Theresa (Chris) Thomas, close sister-in-law, Pat (Jack) Walsh, a large extended family and many friends, including Rosie Henkle and Pat Pointek.
After raising her children, she returned to school to become an LPN and worked at Binghamton General until her retirement. She served on the Board of Directors for the Johnson City Senior Center, volunteered at many community organizations, including the Broome County Library, July Fest, Tri-Cities Opera and the BC Pops. Beverly’s family would like to thank the caring staff of the Good Shepherd Fairview Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am, July 10, 2014 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton with the Reverend Monsignor Michael T. Meagher officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 3:00 until 7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the funeral home.
