Janice Moore passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014. Janice was born January, 24, 1937 in Lomontville, New York and was a graduate of Kingston High School. For over 30 years, Janice dedicated herself to become a hardworking, loyal and respected legal secretary to the attorneys at the law firm of Coughlin & Gerhart. Over her long career there she assisted with everything from commercial and residential real estate; banking; corporate; municipal; and trusts and estate matters. In addition she had to keep up with all the changes in the legal field in her 30 plus years of her career. She made many lifelong friends there who will miss her deeply. After her retirement from Coughlin & Gerhart, Janice had many interests which kept her busy. She had worked part time at Boscov’s and her deep love of animals, in particular cats, led her to volunteer her time at Project Paw. She would also quietly help others who needed assistance and if you want to do something in her honor--help someone in need. She enjoyed going to auctions, plays, the many downtown events and trying her luck at the casinos. She attended St. Patrick's Church on Leroy Street. Janice had the unique gift of making friends where ever she went. Whether going on walks in downtown Binghamton with her dear friend, Harriet Martin, attending her cardiac rehab classes, making new friends at The River House or keeping in touch with old friends on Front Street--Janice always saw the best in people and you always felt better for having been a friend of hers. She will be deeply missed.
She is predeceased by her parents, Alvin and Julia Elliott, Sr., sisters; Anne Rose and Bernice Elliott, infant brother, Ernest Elliott and niece, Alison Elliott. Janice is survived by her husband, Richard, stepdaughters, Lisa (Gary) Stevens, Binghamton and Tina (Matt) Siock, Endwell, brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Beverly Elliott, Lake Katrine, New York, niece and nephew, Colleen and Peter Fairbrother, Tillson, New York and great nephews, Justin and Evan.
