Doris Bennedum

Doris Bennedum, 84, died on February 19, 2014. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Earl Bennedum; parents, Ruth and Charles Klein; grandson, Jason Bennedum and brother and sister-in-law, Al and Therese Klein. Doris is survived by her children, Sharon Slutzker, Charlotte, NC, Kurt and Sharon Bennedum, Binghamton, Joanie and Ron Rollison, Binghamton and Craig and Jill Bennedum, Conklin. She leaves behind her treasured grandchildren, Sonda and Adam Slazer, Scott and Susan Slutzker, Jake Bennedum, Andy Bennedum, Jennifer and Mike Burr, Korynn Bennedum and Kaleb Bennedum; great grandchildren, Ben, Zoe and Tova Slazer, Sydney and Sophie Slutzker and Sophia and Hudson Burr; sister-in-law, Patricia Bennedum and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was a lifelong member of the VFW Auxiliary and was a bookkeeper at the family business, Bennedum’s Locksmith, for more than 30 years. She was offered a scholarship at the Julliard School of Music for voice, but turned it down to get married. She loved to sing and imparted that joy into her children. She will be dearly missed. Doris’ family would like to sincerely thank from Dr. Ramanujan’s office, Dr. Ramanujan, Dr. Liu, Nancy Evans and Debbie, who always treated Doris with love and respect as well as the Staff of the Ideal Nursing Facility. Funeral services will be held 12:30 pm, Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton. Interment will follow services in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 pm, Friday, February 21, 2014 at the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Doris’ name be made to the VFW, 65 Carroll Street, Binghamton, NY 13901 or to the charity of your choice.
