John Tangi, 88, passed away peacefully Monday December 9, 2013. His family is once again together again as he is predeceased by his parents, Vito and Carmella Tangi, sisters, Angelina Tangi, Lucy Tangi White & Palmina Tangi Salva; his brothers, Tony, Angelo, Daniel, Frank and James. He is survived by one brother-in-law, Carmen J. Salva, Sr. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Michelle Salva-Newton and husband Sean, their sons Collin and Anthony with whom he lived his final years with; Joseph and Stacy Salva and daughter Samantha, Karen Salva-Grawe and husband, Robert and sons Daniel and Ryan, Carmen A. and Shannon Salva and children Renee Salva-Vinal and husband Kevin and Carmen Joseph Salva Jr., Lisa Salva-Love and husband Robert and son Gianni and many other nieces and nephews.
John served in the United States Army as Military Police during WWII, where he received an honorable discharge. He then proceeded to enroll in St. Bonaventure University where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism in 1953. John worked at the Sun Bulletin in Binghamton, NY as a staff writer and then decided to change career paths and became a Probation Officer for Broome County where he worked until he retired. John was a very avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed his weekly leagues with his friends, but most of all, John enjoyed his family, especially the children whom gave him the most joy and happiness. To all he was "Uncle John".
Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 4:00 pm, Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton. John will be interred in Calvary Cemetery alongside his family. Please join John's family again on Monday morning at 10:00 am for the funeral procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice House of Wake County, 250 Hospital Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 in Johns' memory.
