  Gerald W. Lewis (Jerry), 61, a lifelong resident of Binghamton, passed away in the early morning hours surrounded by his family at Wilson Memorial Hospital October 9, 2013. He was born at Binghamton General, March 30, 1952 to Laverne W. Lewis and Everetta McGill. Jerry graduated from Windsor High School and obtained his associates in Business from Broome Community College. He was employed by the Raymond Corporation, Chenango Valley School District, Bates Troy and was retired from the Chenango Forks School District maintenance department. He is survived by sisters Kathleen Kent and Deborah Launt, wife Patti Lewis, daughters Jennifer (Logan) Gumaer, Renee ( Bob) Garner, and Melissa ( Mihaly) Balazs, grandchildren Zachary Peck, Dustin Peck, Cameron Crocker, Dante Gumaer, Maddison Peck, Makenzie Garner and Paityn Garner, niece Marryanne (& Todd) Sivers , nephews Gene (Angie), Brandon Waller, and Joshua Launt and his wife Ayumi (Ami), great-nephews Jonah and Bentley and great-niece Dinah. Jerry is predeceased by his parents Everetta McGill and Laverne W. Lewis, and his trusted feline companion, Gypsy. Jerry was in the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the Sons of the American Legion. His hobbies included welding, hunting, playing billiards, working with his hands, “fixing things,” on the side construction projects, listening to country, watching westerns and golf with his father, and most of all, writing poetry. Memorial services will be held 1:00pm, Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton with the Reverend David C. Seaver officiating.
