Jean Eloise Marks, 83, died Monday, August 5th,
2013 after a recent illness. Jean was born on August 6th, 1929, grew up
in Delanson, NY and lived in Rome for more than 50 years. Her husband of 52
years, Edward, and parents, Loren and Ethel Barber, predeceased her.
Jean served as a volunteer at the Rome Memorial Hospital and was a member of
the Newcomers Club. She and Ed were avid square dancers; they enjoyed hiking,
traveling and playing bridge.
Jean is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Charles Vedder, of
Yuma, AZ. and a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Loren Jr. and Mary Barber, of
Lake Elmo, MN; her children, daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Titu Ahmed, of
North Smithfield, RI, two sons, Glen and his wife Victoria, of Montoursville,
PA and Gary and his partner, Neal Barnhill, of Jacksonville, FL; also
grandchildren, Tegan (Ahmed) and Erich Kahner, Tiana Ahmed, and Scott, Todd and
Matthew Marks.
Memorial services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, Aug 24th at the First
Presbyterian Church, 108 W Court St, Rome, NY. Jean will be interred with
her husband at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National
Cemetery at
a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in
