Thomas Franklin Austin, 67 of Endwell, NY, formally of Virginia for the last fourteen years went to heaven (to be with his beloved mother), Sunday, June 23, 2013, after a two year battle with throat cancer. Tom was born in Long Island City, NY, March, 6, 1946 to the late Ivison Franklin and Elizabeth Ann Hurley Austin. Tom was the oldest of twelve children, he was predeceased by his two brothers William (Billy) Austin and Ivison (Stinky) Austin along with one sister, Carol Jean Austin Robinson. Tom is survived by and will forever be remembered by his brothers, Robert Austin of Vestal, Lawrence Austin of Endicott, Patrick (Mary) Austin of Binghamton, along with his loving sisters, Ann Marie Walters of Endicott, Elizabeth and Robert Gordon of Endwell, Diane Austin-Nwokolo of Binghamton, Laurie Lewis of Vestal and Lisa and Steve Kosmidis of Pennsylvania and with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Tom has two sons, Daniel (Sue) Austin of Virginia, and Thomas Austin Jr. of Binghamton. Tom's love of his life was his three treasured grandchildren, Lindsay (Christopher), Riley and Daniel, Jr. and one Great Granddaughter Madisyn Nichole, all of Virginia. His totally enjoyed taking care of them after school hours and during the summer months.Tom loved New Orleans and the music, he was always a hit on the dance floor. He had a wonderful gift of telling stories and entertaining people. Tom was an avid Elvis fan and loved his cat, Toby and watching classic movies along with westerns. A big thanks to the nurses and staff at Susquehanna Nursing Home, 282 Riverside Drive, Johnson City, New York 13790 for putting up with a stubborn but harmless sweet man.Funeral services will be private.
