Helen Suchy, who has been a beloved teacher, colleague, and friend to many in the
Binghamton area passed away peacefully on May 21, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Ann Suchy. Helen is survived by her Cousins, Carol & James Temme and Garry Wheeler, as well as, 19 second cousins and their children living throughout the USA.
Helen was born July 25, 1923 in St. Louis, Mo. She retired from Binghamton City School District after 49 years of teaching, 24 years at BCSD's Roosevelt Elementary. She positively touched the lives of many children in our community. She was a member of both the WBET and EBB Retired Teachers Association. Always a people’s person, Helen was active in the Johnson City Lions Club, Binghamton Women's Civic Association, and the Scottish Society of the Twin Tiers. She was a longtime member of St. Francis Aquinas RC Church. Helen enjoyed reading, travel, writing poetry and water color painting. Because of her love of animals, the family requests donations to the Broome County Humane Society in lieu of Flowers. Helen spent the last few years of her life at UMH Hilltop Campus. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, August 23, 2013 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton with the Reverend Monsignor Michael T. Meagher officiating. Family will receive friends for one hour prior to services. To forward condolences please visit www.demunnfh.com.
