Peggy (Brock) Zimmerman passed away peacefully on May 24th, surrounded by her loving family. Peggy was the 7th of 7 children born to Hunter Ray and Wilda Brock in 1962. She spent her youth in the ranch lands of Idaho which served as an incubator for her ever inquisitive mind, a strong sense of family and community, and the self-confidence to explore. She passed these and many other values on to her two children, Hannah and Hunter, whom she leaves behind with her husband of 25 years, Dan Zimmerman.
Peggy was active in her church, the Community of Christ, was a long time practitioner of yoga, an avid reader, and hiker. But most of all she was a nurturing mother, loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and an affectionate friend who generously shared her warm and affectionate spirit with all she met.
After receiving her undergraduate degree from Graceland University, she earned a Masters in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Peggy’s career path took her to New York City where she worked for Liz Claiborne, which afforded her the opportunity to travel the world as a fashion product manager, and later to Binghamton NY where she worked at the family’s business, Dataflow, Inc.
Peggy fought a brutal 12 year battle with cancer, but did so with admirable courage and grace. She refused to let her disease define her, choosing instead to spend her time and energy living each day to the fullest, finding reasons to laugh and creating lasting memories for her family and friends. She was very appreciative of the compassionate care she received from Dr. Joseph Readling and the entire crew at Broome Oncology.
Peggy was predeceased by her father Hunter Brock and her sister, Amy Brock Jones. She leaves behind her mother Wilda Brock, brother and sister in law David and Carolyn Brock, brother and sister in law Vern and Barbara Brock, brothers Chad Brock and Aaron Brock, and sister and brother in law Jennifer and Mark Olson as well as her in-laws, Dale and Beverly Zimmerman, Ray and Veronique Zimmerman ( and Julie McCormick and John Cake.
A visitation reception will be held from 5:30 to 8:00 on Wednesday, May 29th at the Community of Christ church, 325 Burbank Ave (corner of DeWitt and Burbank) Johnson City, NY. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 8th, location to be determined.
