Gladys J. Knight

My beloved mother, Gladys J. Knight, 88, joined her husband and my father, George, Thursday, January 17, 2013 in Heaven. Gladys was a gentle soul. She was very intelligent, an honor student in school. She met her best friend Ann Carey when they were sixteen living at the YWCA. They remained friends until Ann’s death until in 2007. Mom will be missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her parents, Harrie and Lelah Merrihew; brother, Fred and sister, DeDe. Gladys is survived by her son, David, treasured grandchildren; Heather (Brian)  and Christopher(Jill), great grandchildren; Lily Ann, Evan and Cheyenne. Funeral services will be private. Interment will be in Hawleyton Cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions in Gladys’ name may be made to, The Humane Society, 2 Jackson Street, Binghamton, NY 13903.
