Kenneth A. Hall

December 9, 1925 — January 12, 2013

   Kenneth A Hall, age 87, of Vestal NY, passed away peacefully at home January 12, 2013.  He was a great man of integrity, honesty, and was highly respected in business and life. He believed in hard work, being loyal and fair to his employees, contractors and customers. Ken was a humble, generous and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was born in Danby, NY to the late Ninnion and Sylvia (Dodge) Hall. Ken was predeceased by brothers, Donald, Richard and Robert Hall, step-father Arthur Biggar and brother-in-law, Larry Raynor.      Ken is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara Lester Hall; children, Eric and Karen Hall, Raleigh, NC  and  Kimberly and Doug Belke, Friendsville, PA; treasured grandchildren, Courtney and husband Chris McDaniel, Mt Pleasant, NC;  Ryan Taylor Hall and fiancée Cassie Abrahams, Mebane, NC; great-grandchildren, London, Ariana and Hunter McDaniel, Mt Pleasant, NC.   He leaves behind sister, Marion (Hall) Raynor, Vestal, NY;  brothers-in-law, Douglas and Pat Lester, Gerald Lester and Karen Avery, and Edward and Lynn Lakin; sisters-in-law, Jean and Ed Smith, Joyce and Tom Quain, and Retha Stone; four generations of nieces and nephews; “son in his heart” Michael Yerrick, Greer, SC; dear friends Bill Estabrook, the Arthur Fancher family and the Donald Rounds family.      Ken grew up in Laurel Lake, PA. He was a veteran of the US Army serving his country in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he worked for Fancher’s Appliance before establishing Hall’s Plumbing and Heating in Vestal in 1967 and retired after 28 years. Ken was an expert at his trade and worked with many cntractors throughout the Southern Tier.  Ken attended and was a servant to Conklin Avenue First Baptist Church of Binghamton for over 50 years. For many years he sponsored a Little League baseball team, a Cinderella softball team and Youth Soccer Association team, all of Vestal. He was a charter member of the Silver Lake Rod & Gun Club and a proud member of the American Legion Post #89 of Vestal. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing cards, supported Binghamton hockey teams since the Dusters days and loved the Yankees.     The family would like to extend their gratitude to Lourdes Hospice and Angel Beebe for their loving care, compassion and guidance throughout Ken’s illness.      Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the Conklin Avenue First Baptist Church, 91 Baldwin Street, Binghamton with Pastor Steve Chastain officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in the spring. Family will receive friends at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton, Monday, January 14, 2013 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm.
