Betty Jo Bradley Blount was born to the late Bessie Chancellor on September 29, 1941 in Brighton Alabama. While a teenager she moved to Memphis, Tennessee. If you ask anyone about Betty, they will tell you, she was sweet, kind, soft spoken and loving. She became a mother to all. Betty allowed her kids friends to stay with her rent free, fed them and loved them without questions. She loved to decorate, she loved babies, she loved her family and most importantly, she loved God. In 1980 Betty moved to New York City and was a homemaker and nanny for several families. Betty relocated to Binghamton, New York in 2000, where she became one of the mothers of the New Heights Ministries Church. She was loved and adored by her peers in the Gospel. She remained until God called her home January 3, 2013.
Betty is survived by four sons and two daughters, Glenn, Kevin, Deitrick, Christal, Tobey and LaDonna and Jamie, eight treasured grandchildren, Yahtianna, Jamie Jr., Jeremiah, Jayanna, Daniel, Donovan, Kenneth and Tat-Yana. She leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law, A.G. and Carol Chancellor.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Friday, January 11, 2012 at the Fellowship Baptist Church, 98 Levey Boulevard, Wyandanch, NY with Bishop Larry Simpson officiating. Interment will follow services in Amityville Cemetery. Arrangements for the family are directed by the DeMunn Funeral Home.
