Irving L. “Willie” Wilbur of Binghamton Irving L. “Willie” Wilbur, 76, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 from complications of a stroke suffered nine weeks earlier. He was a kind and wonderful person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Irv is survived by his loving wife of twenty years, Christine Crocker Wilbur; daughter, Lynda (David) Doersam, Chenango Bridge; stepsons, William Crocker, Conway, SC and Patrick (Nicole) Latting, Conklin; sister-in-law, Joan Wilbur, Hillcrest; brothers-in-law, Walter Foote, Apalachin and Wayne Hopper, Binghamton. His siblings have all predeceased him, sisters; Evelyn W. O’Brien, Mildred W. Keeler, Charlotte W. Anderson-Kaminsky, Ruth W. Foote, brothers; Norman Wilbur, Vernard (Marion) Wilbur, Harry Williams, niece, Kathy A. Pufky, stepson, Lawrence Crocker and parents, Harold and Ella Wilbur. Irv had a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins with a special mention of niece, Lisa A. Frey who was always there for him. Irv was born July 29, 1934. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force stationed in England in the 1950’s. He retired after 37 years of service from the Binghamton Psychiatric Center, State of New York as Head Cook. (and a good cook he was). Irv was a member of the American Legion Post #1645. He was a Binghamton eastsider much of his life, recently moving to Kirkwood, where he brought his first riding lawnmower. He was like a kid with a big new toy. A man with many friends, he always looked forward to his Tuesday card games where so many good times were had. Funeral services will be private. Irv will be entombed in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Please join Irv’s family for a celebration of his life which will be held 4:00 PM, Thursday, July 28, 2011 at American Legion Post #1645, 177 Robinson Street, Binghamton.
