Mark W. Fassett, Sr.
Mark passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 after a long, courageous battle with Huntington’s Disease, surrounded by his children. He is predeceased by his biological father, Wheaton D. Fassett, his adopted father, Alfred Kitchen, his adopted mother, Dorothy Kitchen, his biological mother, Daisy E. Farr, and his two brothers, Wayne and Steve Fassett. Mark is survived by his six children, Shannon, and her fiancé, Jayson Krauss, Mark Jr and Melissa, Andrea, Joshua and fiancé, Jetta Desmond, Amanda and Austin Micu, and Benjamin. He was very proud to be the Grandpa of Carter Fassett, Gage Micu, Mark Fassett III, Brianna Fassett, Montana Fassett, Alex Boehm, Jordyn and Austin Krauss, and the soon-to-be Maddox Fassett. He is also survived by his three brothers, Al, Pee Wee (Wheaton Jr), and Tim Fassett and many, many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his ex-wife and her husband, Eileen and Gary Blaisure, who he was very close to and whom he still cared very much for.
Mark’s interests were first and foremost, his family. It is said to be that his will to live came from his strong and everlasting love of his family. He could not have been more proud of his children and grandbabies. The walls of his room plastered with their pictures so that he was surrounded by them day and night. He was also fond of hunting, fishing, and reminiscing of days long since passed. He will be missed and remembered mostly for his quick-witted comebacks and endless supply of smart remarks. He was very strong-willed and stood his ground to get his way to the very end.
We will receive friends and family on Monday, February 14, 2011 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton from 4p.m. to 6p.m and there will be a service following immediately. Anyone wishing to make donations in memory of Dad, please make them at VISIONS FCU, into Shannon Fassett’s account.
