                                                  John E. Basa, Sr.                                                      of BinghamtonJohn E. Basa, Sr., 85, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011. He was a valued friend to many, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family and close friends. John served his county during World War II as a member of the US Navy. He retired from the Town of Binghamton after many years of service as Highway Superintendent. John is survived by his significant other of 29 years, Marilyn Morrissey and her families, his devoted children; Karen West, Binghamton, Bonnie West, Gahanna, Oh., Michael and Nancy Basa, Whitney Point and John E. Basa, Jr., Grass Valley, Ca., sisters; Josie Lundberg, Tampa, Fl., Mary Kadlec, Binghamton and Melita and Charles Hattala, Hawleyton, brother, Francis and Teressa Basa, Conklin. He leaves behind many treasured grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 11:00 am, Monday, January 31, 2011 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton. Family will receive friends for one hour prior to services.
